DOVER, Del. – Coppin State's men's basketball team dropped its third-straight game in a 69-51 loss at MEAC rival Delaware State on Monday night at Memorial Hall. The Eagles fall to 5-24 and 5-9 in the MEAC while the Hornets now stand at 3-25 overall with a 1-12 mark in conference play.
Chad Andrews-Fulton led Coppin with 14 points and eight rebounds while
Karonn Davis added eight and
Lamar Morgan and
Lucian Brownlee chipped in with seven points apiece.
Both teams started off cold, going scoreless for nearly three minutes until Delaware State got on the board with 17:01 left in the half. Fulton tied the score and Morgan made a pair of free throws to give the Eagles the lead and Coppin led by as many as five in the first half. However the Hornets came back and took a 24-19 lead into the half.
Coppin continued its cold-shooting throughout the second half as well, getting no closer than a four-point game as Delaware State pulled away with a 12-0 run to take a 47-30 lead with 12:13 left in the game.
The Hornets outshot Coppin, 44.4% to 30.9% for the game and got 23 points from Marquis Collins.
The Eagles will make the short trip across town from their Baltimore campus to Morgan State on Monday, February 26 for a 7:30 pm tipoff.
