Scouting the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats
  • Bethune-Cookman was projected to win the MEAC South in the preseason poll but will settle for a dangerous #2 seed. The Wildcats were the only MEAC South opponent to defeat the #1 seeded Florida A&M Rattlers in the regular season, while winning the head-to-head tiebreaker with North Carolina A&T as they finished with identical 7-3 records in conference play.
  • B-CU as a team were consistently found at the top of the MEAC leader boards, finishing inside the top-5 in every major category (excluding service aces), while sitting atop the blocks (2.42 per set) and digs (16.40 per set) categories.

  • J'Nai Higgins was the primary setter for Bethune-Cookman at 7.24 assists per set, while Shayla Eugene joined her teammate Jefferson inside the top-six defensive specialists in the MEAC, totaling 3.57 digs per set.
Potential Competitors (Semifinals or Finals)
  • If Coppin State were to defeat Bethune-Cookman in the Quarterfinals, then the Eagles would face the winner of the North's #1 seed (Howard Bison) and the South's #4 seed (North Carolina Central) on Saturday night at 8 p.m.
  • If CSU were to win its battle with Howard or North Carolina Central in the Semifinals, it would set up a date in the MEAC Championship game versus Maryland Eastern Shore, North Carolina A&T, Florida A&M, or Morgan State at 8 p.m. Sunday night. The winner would earn an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.
