WAYNESBORO, Pa. – Coppin started off the tournament in style, knocking off #24 Kutztown University by a score of 959-915 on Saturday. It was the Lady Eagles first win against a top 25 opponent since it defeated #17 Tulane in November of 2017.
CSU took part in traditional matchups to begin the Mount St. Mary's Shootout, following up the Kutztown win with a victory over New Jersey City (844-700), and losses to Felician (889-878), Roberts Wesleyan (896-760), and Wilmington University (949-759). Coppin State totaled 4,200 pins in its traditional day one matches, led by
Nia Turner with 896.
The Lady Eagles started Sunday with two baker matches to determine seedings for the championship bracket later that day. In those contests, beat New Jersey City for the second time in as many days (831-770) and then fell to Medaille (845-734).
Coppin entered the championship bracket as an #11 seed, where it faced #10 seed Medaille in a traditional match and lost 833-747. The team would face the #12 seed New Jersey City in the 11th place match, taking down the Knights for the third consecutive time 782-696. Coppin ended the tournament 4-5 and an 11th place finish.
Turner paced the Lady Eagles with an average of 179.20 and ranked 20th out of 83 bowlers.
Freshman
Kaylah Castillo was second on the squad at 174.40 and a pinfall of 872. Castillo placed 27th out of 83 participants.

Jazzleen McRae (169.50),
Mya Hamlett (155), and
Kaylin Hobson (149.33) made up the rest of the Eagles performances.
The Eagles will take a week off, before returning to the lanes November 2 – 4 to participate in the Virginia Union Invitational.
