READING, Pa. – CSU's women's bowling team finished up its first tournament over the weekend at the KU Bud Whitman Team Invitational hosted by Kutztown University. The Lady Eagles finished ahead of Bloomfield College and Penn State-Behrend.
Coppin competed in Baker matches on Saturday, falling to Daemen (877-873), Mount St. Mary's (909-816), Bloomfield (786-726), Chestnut Hill (835-758), and invitational champion St. Francis of Brooklyn (890-698). The Lady Eagles came away with a pinfall of 3,871 for day one and an average of 774.2 per contest.
The Lady Eagles went back to traditional matchups on Sunday, being bested by Molloy (852-751), Caldwell (940-812), Roberts Wesleyan (881-876), Youngstown State (871-817), and #20 Duquesne (848-733). CSU dropped an average of 159.6 pins per game, while knocking down 3,989 on the day.
Leading scorer from 2017-18
Nia Turner picked up where she left off, pacing the Eagles with 861 pins for a 172.20 match average. Turner finished 38th out of 142 participants.
True freshman
Kaylah Castillo impressed in her first collegiate action, felling the second most pins on the squad (828), posting a 165.60 average and finishing inside the top 50.
Jazzleen McRae (729),
Mya Hamlett (609),
Aushia McLean (486), and
Kaylin Hobson (476) rounded out the totals for Coppin.
The Eagles will get right back to work, as it heads to Waynesboro, Pennsylvania on October 20-21 for the Mount St. Mary's Shootout.
