ODENTON, Md. – Coppin State's women's bowling closed out the 2016-17 regular season at the MEAC Northern Division #3 Meet with freshmen
Mya Hamlett and
Nia Turner leading the way with 180+ pins against Delaware State. The Eagles went 0-8 during the weekend ending the season with a 1-19 MEAC record.
Turner led the Eagled with 174 pins in a 976-716 loss to Maryland Eastern Shore opening up play in regular format. Next, CSU battled Delaware State and finished with both Turner and Hamlett reaching 180+ pins. Hamlett had a team-high 189 pins while Turner added 182. The Hornets came away with a 916-790 victory despite the pair of Eagles posting tournament-highs.
In their third match Hamlett once again bowled a team-best 165 pins in a 74-702 loss to Morgan State. Day one of the MEAC divisional round-up concluded with Howard downing the Eagles 944-757. Hamlett carried the troops for the third consecutive game with 184 pins.
Hamlett had a team-high 704 total pins for the Eagles averaging 176.00 pinfalls. Turner followed averaging 162.00 pins with a total of 648 pinfalls. Junior
Jasmine Newman finished with 644 pins, freshman
Kaylin Hobson had 410, junior
Erica Monk had 336 and sophomore
Jasmyne Johnson finished with 223 pinfall.
Coppin State wrapped up the weekend competing in four baker matches on Sunday. Delaware State picked up a 902-772 win, then Howard won 886-743. Morgan State was next and the Eagles played their closest game of the day falling, 801-765. In their final game Maryland Eastern Shore won 906-740.
