KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Coppin State's bowling team won five matches at the Golden Bears Classic hosted by Kutztown University on Friday, February 10
th through Sunday, February 12
th. Freshman
Mya Hamlett averaged 17.2 pins per frames helping the Eagles edge out a win over No. 20 Franklin Pierce opening the weekend.
Coppin State went 2-5 on day one of the Golden Bears Classic defeating both Franklin Pierce and Wilmington. The Eagles posted 838 pinfalls to 817 by Franklin Pierce. CSU concluded day one with a 781-655 win over Wilmington. Chestnut Hill (844-752), Adelphi (951-662) and St. Peter's (782-653) were all victorious over the Eagles in baker play.
Saturday's action was highlighted by a pair of wins over Kutztown (836-818) in their third match and Roberts Wesleyan (682-662) in their final match. The Eagles began with a 971-867 loss to Felician and then 911-679 to Duquesne. Caldwell was the other defeat in their fourth game (786-764) by 22 pins.
On the third and final day, Coppin State played in three matches and won their second downing Robert Wesleyan four games to two.
The Eagles bowling team competes in the James Brown Invitational on February 17
th in Towson, MD hosted by Morgan State University.
