Bowling Defeats Nationally Ranked North Carolina A&T, UMES at MEAC Meet #1

TOWSON, Md. – Coppin State's bowling team put together a strong showing at MEAC Meet #1 over the weekend at AMF Towson Lanes, finishing fifth of eight teams. The Eagles went 4-3 overall, highlighted by a perfect opening day of competition, with a total of 5,908 pins for a 168.8 average per game.
 
Abigail Brockington led the way for Coppin, averaging 18.30 pins per frame while posting an 81.8% overall fill percentage and 17 strikes across the two-day event. Shenae Harrison was also outstanding, averaging 17.74 pins per frame with a team-high 26 strikes. She filled 77.1% of her frames and converted on 81.8% of her makeable spares.
 
Victoria Davis contributed a consistent weekend as well, averaging over 17 pins per frame with a 75% fill percentage while recording a team-high 30 spares.
 
The Eagles came out strong on Saturday, sweeping all four of their matches. Coppin opened with a 978-907 victory over seventh-ranked North Carolina A&T, followed by an 895-866 win against 16th-ranked Maryland Eastern Shore. CSU continued its hot start with an 811-565 rout of Norfolk State before edging Howard, 832-823, to close out the day undefeated.
 
Sunday proved more challenging, as Coppin dropped its three matches to nationally ranked opponents. The Eagles fell, 906-829 to No. 23 Delaware State, 939-834 to No. 18 UAB, and 945-743 to Morgan State.
 
Coppin State will return to the lanes on November 15-16 when it hosts the 16-team Lady Eagles Invitational at AMF Woodlawn Lanes in Woodlawn, Md.
