SMYRNA, Del. – Three Eagles ran season-best times as Coppin State women's cross country team placed fifth overall at the DSU Farm Run Invite on Saturday, Sept. 24.
Maryland Eastern Shore won the meet with 30 overall points as Hampton placed second with 24 points. Moragn State (82) was third, Howard (111) was fourth, host Delaware State (140) was sixth and District of Columbia (197) rounded out the bunch placing seventh.
Coppin State totaled 123 points and had runners place 9
th, 14
th, 16
th, 27
th, 47
th and 48
th.
Freshman
Tatiana Ogundeko was the first Eagle to finish the 5k course at the Delaware Outreach & Research Center placing ninth overall out of 57 runners with a time of 20:44.5. Freshman
Cionne Gourrier was the next Eagle to cross the line placing 14
th at 21:25.1, recording a season-best time. Sophomore
Lunnise Gibson finished in the top-20 placing 16
th overall with a season-best time of 21:30.5.
The next Eagle was freshman
Eriell Wallace in 37
th place at a season-best time of 24:43.6, followed by sophomore Chontel Fils (27:57.2) placing 47
th and sophomore
Khemani Roberts (28:05.8) in 48
th place.
Coppin State will close out the regular season and prepare for the upcoming 2016 MEAC Cross Country Championships with a tune-up on Oct. 15 at the Delaware State Invitational III.
