CARY, N.C. – Kamillah Monroque finished 15
th overall to earn All-Conference honors to lead the Coppin State women's cross country team to a third place finish at the MEAC Championships on Friday morning at WakeMed Soccer Park. Placing just ahead of Coppin was Norfolk State and Howard.
A junior from Castries, St. Lucia, Monroque finished the 5K course in 20:21.1 to lead a flock of Eagles who ran as a pack for much of the course. Monroque set a personal record in the 5K and finished seconds ahead of freshman
Saidai Stuteley (20:25.5).
Running in just her second race this season,
Salomay Agyei took 18
th overall in 20:43.9 with
Jahmei Wyatt just behind in 20:57.0.
Latifa Ali and
Claudina Constantine also finished back-to-back in 27
th and 28
th, respectively, in times of 21:26.8 and 21:29.3.
Abby Weiss also competed for the Eagles in just her second career 5K and covered the course in 23:21.1 to finish 42
nd over 55 runners.
