2016 CSU Bowling Team Award Winners

Freshman Erica Monk, sophomore Jasmine Newman and senior Brionca Beard were the bowling team award winners at the 2016 Eagles Award Banquet on May 10.

Erica Monk was named most improved, the unsung hero award went to Brionca Beard and Jasmine Newman earned the team's most valuable honors.

The trio was three of the four Coppin State players that knocked down more than 2,000 pins and are also three of the six Lady Eagles to average at least 110 pins. All three student-athletes were named to the MEAC All-Academic Team.

Erica Monk finished the season third on the team in total pinfall with 3,465 pins. Monk bowled a career best 155 vs. Norfolk State at the Lady Bulldog Classic. Monk never bowled less than a 106-pinfall average at any match during the season.

Senior Brionca Beard completed the season with a 2,840 total pinfall and a 113.4 pinfall average. She had her best performance at the FDU Jamboree Oct.31, totaling career-highs with 1,253 pins, a 125.3 average and rolling 194 against Valparaiso. She participated in 25 total matches on the season.

Jasmine Newman garnered team MVP honors after leading the Lady Eagles with 7,525 total pins. Newman rolled over 200 twice during the season: a 216 vs. Virginia State at the FDU Jamboree and a team best 266 against Delaware State at the second MEAC Northern Meet. She was second on the team with a 156.7 pinfall average and led Coppin State with 48 games bowled.
