BALTIMORE- Freshman infielder 
Jamar Criss tallied five hits and two RBIs in Coppin State's home doubleheader against the New Jersey Institute of Technology Bears on Saturday, March 12 at Joe Cannon Stadium.
 
In the opening game, Coppin State scored two runs on six hits against the Bears.
 
Senior outfielder 
John Kraft doubled to center field in the bottom of the first inning to start things off for the Eagles. 
 
NJIT opened up a 7-0 lead headed into the bottom of the third inning.
 
In the bottom of the third inning, 
Jamar Criss singled to right field for his first hit of the game.
 
NJIT would go on to score two more runs in the top of the fifth inning.
 
Freshman outfielder 
Carlos Alviarez led off the bottom of the seventh inning with a single to right field. Freshman outfielder 
Andrew O'Dwyer followed with a double.
 
In the bottom of the eighth inning, 
John Kraft was hit by a pitch, then preceded to steal second base. 
Jamar Criss sent Kraft home on a RBI single to center field.
 
Criss stole second base and scored on a 
Bryant Miranda RBI double.
 
Freshman pitcher Devin Sutorious went 5.0 innings and retired seven Bear batters. 
Myles Taylor pitched 2.0 innings and struck out three. 
 
NJIT took game one, 9-2.
 
The Bears scored nine runs on 10 hits.
 
In the final game of the doubleheader, Coppin State exploded for eight hits.
 
Freshman infielder 
Jamar Criss singled for the Eagles lone hit of the first inning.
 
In the bottom of the second inning, senior outfielder 
George Dragon singled to right field. Freshman catcher 
John O'Dwyer followed with his own singled to right field.
 
In the top of the third inning, NJIT broke open the scoring by taking a 1-0 lead.
 
Jamar Criss would collect his second hit of the game with a single to second base in the bottom of the third inning.
 
John O'Dwyer added his second hit of the afternoon with another single down the right field line.
 
J. O'Dwyer would go on the steal third and the score as 
Erik Crossman picked up an RBI single to right field.
 
Coppin State tied the game at 1-1 headed into the fifth inning.
 
In the top of the fifth inning, NJIT scored two more runs to take a 3-1 lead over Coppin State.
 
In the bottom of the seventh inning, 
Erik Crossman reached base on an error by the Bear's third baseman. Crossman stole second and advanced to third on an error by NJIT's catcher.
 
Crossman then scored on a single to center field by 
Jamar Criss.
 
Bryant Miranda singled to center field for the Eagles eight and final hit.
 
The Bears held the lead and edged out the Eagles for a 3-2 win in Joe Cannon Stadium.
 
Freshman pitcher 
Aaron Rea went the entire game, allowing six hits and striking out a pair.
 
Coppin State will return to Joe Cannon Stadium on Sunday, March 13 to complete its season series with the New Jersey Institute of Technology. This will be a single game beginning at 10:00 a.m.
