Eagles Tally 10 Hits To Close Weekend Series Against NJIT

BALTIMORE- Junior infielder Bryant Miranda, senior outfielder George Dragon and freshman catcher Malik White combined for eight hits as Coppin State exploded for 10 hits total against New Jersey Institute of Technology on Sunday, March 13 in Joe Cannon Stadium.
 
The NJIT Bears began the game with two runs on three hits to lead off the opening inning of play.
 
Bryant Miranda led off the bottom of the second inning with a double to right center for the Eagles first hit of the game.
 
Miranda advanced on a to third on a Nazier McIlwain groundout.
 
After a Malik White walk, Miranda scored Coppin State's first run of the game on a senior infielder Colin Dower single through the right side.
 
Dower stole second as White scored the Eagles second run of the inning.
 
Coppin State trailed NJIT 3-2 at the end of the second inning.
 
The Bears scored one more run in the top of the fourth inning pushing their lead to 4-2 over the Eagles.
 
George Dragon singled to center field and freshman catcher Malik White singled to left field for their first hits of the game.
 
NJIT carried its 4-2 lead into the bottom of the sixth inning.
 
Bryant Miranda led off the bottom of the sixth inning with a single to third base. George Dragon followed with a single to left field.
 
Bryant and Dragon both advanced on a passed ball.
 
Bryant would later score on a second passed ball as the Eagles closed the sixth inning down 3-4 to NJIT.
 
A George Dragon single to right field advanced Bryant Miranda to third after Miranda was hit by a pitch to lead off the bottom of the eighth inning.
 
Miranda scored to tie the game on a Nazier McIlwain RBI, as he reached base on a fielder's choice.
 
The Eagles finished the eightg inning tied 4-4 with the Bears.
 
Freshman outfielder Andrew O'Dywer added the Eagles eighth hit of the game with a single to right field in the bottom of the ninth inning.
 
As the game moved into an extra inning, NJIT scored one run and three hits in the top of the 10th inning.

Bryant Miranda singled to left field for his third hit of the game to lead off the bottom of the 10th inning. 
 
George Dragon was walked advancing Miranda to second base.
 
Freshman Malik White logged his second hit of the game with a single to the shortstop.
 
The Eagles went scoreless in the 10th inning and fell to NJIT 5-4 in extra innings.
 
Freshman pitcher Krystian Negron led Coppin State throwing 4.2 innings, striking out three and giving up just two hits.
 
Coppin State will head to Emmitsburg, MD as they square off against the Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers on Wednesday, March 16. The game will begin at 3:00 p.m.
