Women's Cross Country Places Tenth at 2016 MEAC Championships

DOVER, Del. – Coppin State's women's cross country team placed tenth overall at the 2016 MEAC Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Oct. 29th at the Delaware State Outreach & Research Center. The Eagles top finisher was freshman Tatiana Ogundeko crossing the finish line 27th overall.
 
Coppin State finished with 251 total team points and had runners place 27th, 43rd, 44th, 65th, 72nd, and 76th. Florida A&M broke a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) with its fifth straight Women's Cross Country championship. Second-place honors went to Maryland Eastern Shore with 60 total points. Hampton (93), Bethune-Cookman (105) and Norfolk State (115) completed the top-five team finishes.
 
Ogundeko's time of 20:14.64 was her second fastest time of the season. In all six meets of the 2016 season Ogundeko has been the top Eagle finisher.
 
The next CSU finisher was freshman Cionne Gourrier coming in 43rd place with a time of 20:57.73. This was her second fastest time on the 5k course this season as she wraps up a strong rookie season for the Eagles. Sophomore Lunnise Gibson ran a season-fastest time of 21:01.7 following Gourrier placing 44th.
 
Freshman Erielle Wallace (23:15.51) finished 65th overall, while senior Alexis Marsh (24:19.15) was 72th and junior Breana Hagwood (24:54.47) was 76th overall.
 
Florida A&M's Judith Kibii was named Outstanding Performer, and became the second Lady Rattler in school history to win the cross country championship after finishing first with a time of 18:02.60.
