BALTIMORE – Cheers echoed throughout the AMF Lanes in Towson all weekend long as the Coppin State Lady Eagles bowling team hosted the first Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) North Division Meet of the season.

Brionca Beard and
Shelby Mendoza were all recognized during special and emotional senior presentations on Sunday.
Overall during the weekend, the Eagles went 0-8 in traditional and bakers matches. Coppin State finished with a 2,919 total pinfall in four traditional matches and 5,636 throughout the weekend. Coppin State bowled a high game of 708 against Delaware State in four Baker matches.
Sophomore
Erica Monk finished second for Coppin State in total pinfall with 638 as she started all four traditional matches.
"It was fun getting a chance to play in front of friends and family," said Monk, who averaged a 159.5 pinfall during the tournament. "I just need to continue to follow through on my release and concentrate better. It important to have fun and not to get frustrated when things aren't going as planned."
Seniors
Kristen Sharpe and
Jasmine Newman turned in solid performances during the MEAC tournament. Sharpe led the Eagles in total pinfall with 731 and a 182.8 average pinfall for the weekend. Newman compiled a 637 total pinfall and a 159.3 average.
"This weekend we realized our flaws and identified what we need to do better," said Beard, who finished the MEAC tournament with a 353 total pinfall in three traditional matches. "We have to focus harder and continue to give one another positive energy. We're continuing to build a great team spirit."
The Lady Eagles will return to action in Millsboro, DE for the Hawks Classic hosted by Maryland Eastern Shore on Nov. 20-22.
