BALTIMORE – The Coppin State women's basketball team will hold its first official practice Sunday, October 4 on the main floor of the Physical Education Complex. Coppin State opens the regular season on Friday, Nov, 13 when it visits Virginia Commonwealth for an 11:00 a.m. tip.
To get you ready for the season, we're going to countdown over the next six weeks, "50 Fun Facts" featuring unique nuggets and statistical notes about the Coppin State women's basketball team leading up to our weeklong coverage of the season during the week of November 8.

50 –
Janelle Lane had 11 games last season, including a 7-for-7 effort against Delaware State on March 3, in which she made at least 50 percent of her field goal attempts. Lane enters the season ranked fourth all-time in program history in field-goal percentage (.476).
49 – Sophomore
Candice Beverly (Oct. 27) and Griffin (Oct. 29) celebrate their birthdays this month.
48 – Coppin State returns 84.7 percent of its scoring from last season. The Lady Eagles have their top two leading scorers back in seniors
Jordan Swails (11.3 points per game) and
Janelle Lane (10.0). Overall, Coppin State returns four of its top five scorers from last season's team.
47 – Players on Coppin State's 2015-16 roster represent six states (Georgia, Virginia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York and Florida) and Washington, D.C.
46 -- The dynamic guard tandem of
Genesis Lucas and Griffin accounted for 53.1 percent of Coppin State's 331 total assists last season.
45 – Beverly and
Vanessa Neal are members of the Coppin State SAAC.
44 – Coppin State plays three teams that participated in the 2015 NCAA Women's Tournament (Savannah State, Syracuse and Miami) and one who advanced to the WNIT championship contest (West Virginia).
43 – Lucas led the team in steals eight times and assists 12 times. She also reached double digits in scoring 13 times while leading the team in scoring seven times.
