BALTIMORE – Coppin State's women's basketball team closes its three-game road trip at Maryland Eastern Shore Saturday for a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) match-up at 2 p.m.
SERIES HISTORYThe Eagles lead the all-time series, 36-23, against UMES. Coppin State scored at least 80 points in each of the three contests against the Hawks last year. In February, the Eagles came back to Baltimore with an 80-64 win thanks in part to
Omaah Tayong's double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Jordan Swails added 11 points and
Amber Griffin had eight points. When Coppin State hosted UMES in March, it cruised to an 80-48 victory.
Janelle Lane posted nine points and six rebounds while
Tanaysa Henderson put up eight points. The two teams met for the third time in two months in the quarterfinals of the MEAC tournament. Senior
Kyra Coleman's 22 points and 10 rebounds led Coppin State to an 82-60 triumph to advance to the semifinals. The Eagles have won the past eight meetings with the Lady Hawks.

Genesis Lucas had a career night with 13 points and eight assists in Coppin State's 67-49 setback to North Carolina A&T Monday in the Corbett Sports Center. It was Lucas' third consecutive game scoring in double figures.
Janelle Lane finished with 10 points on the evening, her ninth time this season earning double digits.
Omaah Tayong added eight points and four rebounds. The Eagles (3-14 overall, 2-4 MEAC) got out to a fast start, leading by as many as 11 points midway through the first half. Coppin made a valiant effort but couldn't out run the Aggies in the second half. The Eagles forced 23 turnovers which they converted into 22 points.
ABOUT UMESUMES ended its road trip in the Sunshine State with a 64-54 loss to Florida A&M Monday night. Jessica Long led the Lady Hawks (6-11, 3-4 MEAC) with a team-high 17 points on 8-of-15 shooting from the field (53 percent). Off the bench, Taylor Thompson tallied a season-best 12 points, 10 of which came after intermission. Taryana Kelly grabbed 11 rebounds, seven of which were offensive boards.

Derek Brown is one win away from recording his 250th career victory. Over 16 years, Brown has made three NCAA Tournament appearances, earned two WNIT bids, coached 35 All-MEAC players, had five MEAC Players of the Year on his teams and was named MEAC Coach of the Year twice. Brown is currently the all-time winningest women's basketball coach in Coppin State history.

Jordan Swails averages a team-best 9.9 points per game and 5.5 rebounds per contest, which is second for the Eagles. Swails has scored in double figures eight times and has led Coppin State in scoring six times this season.
