SERIES HISTORYCoppin State takes on West Virginia for the second consecutive season. The Mountaineers lead 6-0 in the all-time series with Coppin State following last season's 88-56 victory. In the game, the Eagles trailed, 32-29, at halftime. Five of the six games in the series have been played in Morgantown.
LAST TIME OUTCoppin State (1-5) fell to No. 19 Georgia, 49-29, in a non-conference contest at Stegeman Coliseum Tuesday night.
Jordan Swails led the team with six points and four rebounds.
Keena Samuels added five points and three rebounds.
Amber Griffin notched four points and four assists.

Bria Harris tallied four points and five rebounds apiece. The Eagles held the Lady Bulldogs below 50 points, the fewest allowed by Coppin State this year. The 49 points were also a season-low point total for Georgia. Coppin State held Georgia to 26 percent shooting from the field.
ABOUT WEST VIRGINIAMembers of the Big XII Conference, the Mountaineers moved to 5-1 following an 80-52 victory over Fairleigh-Dickinson Wednesday night. Bria Holmes posted 25 points, collected four steals, and handed out three assists in the win. She made 11-of-20 from the field with three triples. Linda Stepney added 13 points and dished out two assists. Averee Fields added 10 points, pulled in nine rebounds, and had four steals. The Mountaineers are currently ranked 24th in the Associated Press poll and 21st in the Coaches' Poll. Holmes is ninth in the nation in scoring averaging 24.8 points per game for the Mountaineers, who are 4-0 at home this season. Meanwhile, Fields is averaging 16 points and 6.7 rebounds per contest. West Virginia was picked to finish third in the Big XII preseason coaches' poll.
CHALLENGING SLATECoppin State's December schedule reads like the Top 25 poll. The Eagles have faced or will face three teams currently ranked in this week's Associated Press Top 25 poll: Maryland (No. 15), Georgia (No. 19) and West Virginia (No. 24). In addition the Eagles' remaining December opponents: Mt. St. Mary's, VCU and Miami all participated in postseason play last season.
TOUGH DEFENSEIn their last two games against Virginia Union and Georgia, the Eagles have permitted an average of 52.5 points. For the season, Coppin State has held three teams below 40 percent shooting, including its last two opponents.

Bria Harris are the leading scorers for Coppin State. Lane averages 12.2 points per game and shoots 50.9 percent from the field. Harris is averaging 10.2 points per outing. She leads the Eagles in rebounding with 8.7 per game.
