LIVE AUDIOBALTIMORE – Coppin State begins its four-game road trip at No. 19 University of Georgia Tuesday at 7 p.m.
SERIES HISTORYGeorgia leads the all-time series record, 1-0. The two teams met for the first time in 2003 as the Bulldogs took a 94-41 victory over the Eagles.
LAST TIME OUTCoppin State notched its first win of the season by defeating Virginia Union, 54-68, on Saturday in the Physical Education Complex (PEC).
Bria Harris topped the Eagles with a career-high 21 points and nine rebounds.
Janelle Lane finished with her first double-double of the season on a career-best 20 points and 10 rebounds.
Amber Griffin chipped in eight points.
Omaah Tayong added seven points and 10 rebounds. As a team, the Eagles recorded 60 rebounds, a PEC record. The previous mark was 55 rebounds, established in 2011 against Maryland-Eastern Shore.
LOOKING AT GEORGIAAs a member of the Southeastern Conference, Georgia participated in the NCAA tournament last season where it lost to Saint Joseph's in the first round in Storrs, Ct. This season, the Bulldogs are ranked 19th by the Associated Press women's basketball poll and 25th by USA Today. Georgia is enjoying an undefeated season thus far with a 7-0 record. The Bulldogs are coming off a 74-51 win over Tennessee Tech on Saturday night. The victory marked the 850th win in 36 seasons at Georgia for head coach Andy Landers. Shacobia Barbee scored 14 points and dished four assists. Merritt Hempe added 12 points. Krista Donald and Tiaria Griffin had 11 and 10, respectively.
RACKING UP THE REBOUNDSBria Harris paces the team in rebounding at 9.4 per game. She has grabbed four or more rebounds 19 times since the beginning of last season. Her performance against Virginia Union marked her eighth career game scoring in double digits and her third this season.
IN HER LANEJanelle Lane leads the Eagles in scoring, averaging 13.8 points per game. In the win over Virginia Union, Lane earned her 11th career game scoring in double figures. She has scored in double digits in four of the five games this season. Lane is shooting 55.3 percent from the field.
UP NEXTCoppin State continues its road trip at the University of West Virginia Saturday at 4 p.m. The Eagles' road trip will also take them to Mt. St. Mary's and Miami (Fl).
