NORTH EAST, Pa. – The Coppin State University men's golf team closed out the Laker Fall Invitational with a strong final round on Monday at Lake View Country Club, finishing fifth in the seven-team field with a three-round score of 887 (+23).
The Eagles saved their best round for last, firing a tournament-best 1-over 289 in the final round to move up the leaderboard and finish ahead of Wagner (+36) and Saint Francis (+59). Coppin State opened the tournament with rounds of 298 and 300 before carding its 289 on Monday.
Brent Chung led the way for the Eagles, earning runner-up honors with a three-round total of 214 (-2). Chung improved throughout the tournament, shooting rounds of 74, 71 and a team-best 69 (-3) in the final round. His 69 was tied for the second-lowest round of the tournament.
Tzari Baines also delivered a standout performance, finishing third overall at 215 (-1). Baines posted three consecutive rounds under or at par, carding 73, 72 and 70 to finish just one stroke behind Chung.
Marcos Cordoba finished tied for 19th with a 223 (+10), recording rounds of 74, 76 and 76.
Alexei Voice placed tied for 37th at 239 (+26), while
Jevahn Sathasivam closed out the Eagles' scoring lineup in 40th at 244 (+28), highlighted by a final-round 74.
Mylhian Todem also finished 39
th individually at 243 (+27).
UMass Amherst captured the team championship at +7 (871), followed by host Mercyhurst (+12), Malone (+19), Mercyhurst B (+22) and Coppin State (+23).
The Laker Fall Invitational marked Coppin State's second event of the 2026-27 season and its first as a full team. The Eagles are scheduled to return to action September 28-29 at East Carolina's Ironwood Collegiate Classic at Ironwood CC in Greenville, N.C.
