SMYRNA, Del. – The Coppin State women's cross country team opened the 2026 season with a third-place finish at the Delaware State University Sting Invite on Friday afternoon at the Delaware State Research and Outreach Center.
The Eagles totaled 98 points, finishing behind host Delaware State (16) and Morgan State (63). Coppin State edged Bowie State (104) and Lincoln (Pa.) (105), while District of Columbia rounded out the team standings.
Freshman
Dannica Arrington paced the Eagles in her collegiate debut, finishing seventh overall in the 5K with a time of 21:18.1. Arrington was followed by fellow freshman
Sarahi Paulino-Martinez, who placed 17th overall in 23:01.5.
Senior
Gifty Oku finished 22nd in 24:21.8, while freshman
Kimora Grant placed 30th in 25:50.8. Sophomore
Chase Cineus rounded out the Eagles' scoring lineup with a 32nd-place finish in 26:06.6.
Sophomore
Danielle Wooten also competed for Coppin State, finishing 35th overall in 26:29.6.
CSU returns to action on Saturday, September 19 for the UMES Invite in Princess Anne, Md.
