PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – The Coppin State University women's cross country team placed second at the UMES Invitational on Saturday, posting a team score of 48 points in the 5K at the Eastern Shore course.
The Eagles finished just two points behind Lincoln (Pa.) and ahead of host Maryland Eastern Shore, while Morgan State claimed the team title with 29 points.
Freshman
Dannica Arrington led the way for Coppin State, finishing third overall with a time of 21:50.8. Arrington's performance placed her behind only Morgan State's Crystal Coke (21:24.9) and Rhian Jeffries (21:41.0).
Freshman
Neveah Escobar followed with a sixth-place finish in 23:19.6, while senior
Gifty Oku crossed the line eighth overall in 24:04.0.
Fourth for the Eagles was junior
Bridget Annan, placing 13th in 25:17.2, while sophomore
Chase Cineas finished 18th in 28:19.7.
CSU will have off the next two weekends before the WCU Golden Ram Open on October 10.
