TaKenya Stafford had a team-high ten kills as the Coppin State volleyball team fell to West Virginia, 3-0 (25-15,25-14, 25-14) on Saturday afternoon at WVU Coliseum. The Eagles fell to 2-4 on the season while the Mountaineers remained perfect at 6-0.
Stafford hit .129 with six errors on 31 swings and added an ace and three digs.
Cherisse Atilano followed with five kills and a team-high eight digs and
Kayden Cupid chipped in with three kills and two blocks.
Cassidy Tanton hit .591 on 14 kills to lead the Mountaineers who hit .359 as a team.
Coppin returns to action for its home opener on Wednesday, September 10 against Georgetown at 6 pm. On September 12-13, the Eagles host the Charm City Classic with Lafayette, Penn, Iona and Princeton coming to PEC Arena.
