BALTIMORE – Coppin State's volleyball team took down both Lafayette, 3-1 (25-23, 19-25, 25-18, 25-17) and Penn, 3-2 (25-22, 25-19, 27-29, 17-25, 15-10) on Friday at PEC Arena to complete day one of its Charm City Classic. The Eagles now stand at 4-5 on the season.

TaKenya Stafford (18 kills/11 digs),
Andrea Serrano (30 assists/12 digs) and
Coco Figueroa (19 digs/10 assists) all had double-doubles to lead the Navy & Gold.
Cherisse Atilano added 16 kills, followed by
Ahzhi Coleman with eight and
Ayanna Pharoah with seven.
Kayden Cupid (six) and
Gabriela Zuquelo (five) also chipped in on the offensive end while
Andrea Cintron added 20 assists as the Eagles outhit Lafayette, .294 to .250. Atilano and Zuquelo also had six digs apiece with Stafford leading the block with four.
Cupid and Coleman were very efficient in the middle, combining for a .550 hitting percentage on 20 attempts.
Coppin also got nine points via aces with Stafford credited with a team-high three with Cintron and Serrano recording two each.

Stafford and Atilano both had double-doubles while recording 16 kills apiece which tied for a match-high with a trio of Penn players. Atilano added 14 digs to Stafford's 13 while both players had an ace while combining for three blocks.
Cupid hit .409 on 12 kills to go with five blocks, which tied for a team-high with Coleman who had six kills on eight swings to go with three aces.
Ivanna Luna had the best match of her career with eight kills on 12 attempts to go with three blocks while Pharoah also had six kills.
Cintron led a trio of CSU setters with 26 assists to go with seven digs and a pair of aces while Serrano assisted on 23 kills to go with 12 digs.
Azul Pilahg saw time in the final two sets and came up with four assists and three digs.
Figueroa led all back row players with 31 digs while adding four assists as the Eagles hit .258 to Penn's .238.
Coppin's 11 total blocks were its most since September 24, 2023, when it recorded 12 blocks in a five-set win over Maryland Eastern Shore.
