BALTIMORE – Track & Field's
Solomon Hammond and volleyball's
TaKenya Stafford received the President's Eagle Awards as Coppin State University's Department of Athletics held its annual Eagles ESPY Awards on Monday night at James Weldon Auditorium.
Andrew Betton from men's track & field and
Laila Lawrence from the women's basketball team were named the Men's ad Women's Athletes of the Year, respectively.
Ulugbek Abdurakhmonov of the men's tennis team and
Charia Roberts from women's basketball received the Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards. The Men's and Women's Newcomers of the Year went to
Dentry Mortimer from men's cross country/tennis and volleyball's
Deviana Walker.
The Annual Iron Eagle awards were also presented, with those honors going to men's track & field's
Solomon Hammond and softball's
Brooklyn Tapusoa.
Additionally, each team announced their program's Most Valuable Player, Unsung Hero and Most Improved Player awards.
