BRIDGEWATER, N.J. – Coppin State's
Kaden Straily has been named the Northeast Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week, it was announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon. This is the first weekly award that Straily has received from the NEC.
A sophomore righthander from Henderson, Nev., Straily threw a complete game two-hit shutout in Coppin's 2-0 victory over Norfolk State on Sunday, April 13. Straily needed just 91 pitches to dominate the Spartans while matching a career high with six strikeouts.
Straily forced 13 groundouts on the afternoon and retired the final 20 batters he faced.
For the season, Straily is 3-5 with a 5.17 earned run average while striking out 33 in 47.0 innings and holding batters to a .201 batting average. In conference play, Straily has been even better with a 3-2 mark and 2.73 ERA. Straily has struck out 23 in 33.0 innings and held batters to a .158 clip.
