BRIDGEWATER, N.J. – Coppin State's
Reagan Rivera has been named the Northeast Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week, it was announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon. This is the first weekly honor that Rivera has earned in his collegiate career.
A senior from San Diego, Calif., Rivera struck out a career-high ten batters in 5.0 innings while allowing no earned runs on just one hit in a no-decision against Virginia Military Institute on Friday. Rivera struck out the side in both the first and second innings before fanning two more in the third and one each in the fourth and fifth.
In his two starts this season, Rivera is 0-0 and has struck out a league-leading 17 batters in 10.0 innings while recording a 4.50 earned run average. Rivera is holding batters to just a .179 average which ranks third in the NEC.
The Eagles return to action on Tuesday, February 25 at Villanova before hosting UMass in a three-game series starting on Friday, February 28 at Joe Cannon Stadium.
