DURHAM, N.C. – Peter Oduro posted a double-double, including a team-high 13 points, but the Coppin State men's basketball team fell at North Carolina Central, 71-59, on Saturday afternoon at McDougald-McLendon Arena. Coppin's record falls to 4-19 overall and 2-6 in the MEAC while NC Central improved to 11-14 on the year and 4-4 in conference play.

Checking the Box Score
  • Oduro hit 4-of-8 shots from the floor and all five of his free throws to match Toby Nnadozie for a team-high 13 points. Oduro also grabbed 12 rebounds to lead all players to go with two blocks and a steal.
  • Nnadozie hit three 3-pointers en route to scoring 13 points, and the league leader in steals pilfered another four on the day.
  • Khali Horton was also in double figures with ten points, followed by Julius Ellerbe III with eight, Cam'Ron Brown and Jonathan Dunn with six each and Camaren Sparrow with three.
  • Brown had a team-high four assists with Ellerbe dishing out another three.

How it Happened
  • Oduro recorded a block on Central's opening possession and was rewarded at the other end for an easy layup after a pass by Horton.
  • Horton then threw down a dunk and hit a three, giving Coppin an early 7-0 lead.
  • At the 15:10 mark, Horton buried another tree to give Coppin its largest lead at 14-4, but Central regrouped with seven-straight points.
  • Coppin maintained the advantage until Central hit a three with 9:40 remaining at 23-22.
  • Oduro answered at the other end with an old-fashioned three-point play. Following a dunk by Central, Oduro threw down one of his own to keep Coppin on top.
  • Central turned the ball over but capitalized on a CSU miss dunk with a three at the 6:25 mark to regain the lead at 28-27.
  • Nnadozie hit a three going into the half as Central led 31-30.
  • Oduro scored to open the second half, but Central scored 11 straight points to go up by ten and Coppin got no closer than seven points after a three-point play by Dunn at the other end.
Up Next: Coppin returns to action on Monday, February 17 in a 7:30 tipoff at South Carolina State.
