BALTIMORE – Six Eagles scored in double figures as the Coppin State men's basketball team defeated Cheyney University, 88-62 in an Education Day matchup on Thursday morning at PEC Arena. Coppin moved to 3-16 on the year with the win while the Wolves fell to 2-14.

- Jonathan Dunn led all players with 16 points and ten rebounds to notch the first double-double of his career.
- Toby Nnadozie stuffed the stat sheet with 15 points, six rebounds, eight assists, eight steals and a block.
- Nnadozie's eight steals are tied for the second-most in CSU single-game history and matches Coppin's NCAA D I era single-game record. It is also tied for the most by any NCAA Division I player in a game this season.
- Camaren Sparrow matched Nnadozie with 15 points to go with four assists, three rebounds, two steals and a block.
- Khali Horton followed with 14 points while Aa'Reyon Munir-Jones and Peter Oduro added 12 and ten points, respectively.
- Cam'Ron Brown, Zahree Harrison and Darius Leonard all had two points apiece and Car'Ron Brown made his CSU debut and dished out an assist in six minutes of action.
- Coppin outshot Cheyney, 49.2% to 44.2% while hitting eight 3-pointers and 16-of-21 from the line.
- The Eagles forced 22 turnovers which translated into 32 points and 28 fast break points.
- Coppin's 23 assists on 32 made baskets were its most since January 9, 2012, when it recorded 25 assists in an 82-61 win at South Carolina State.
How it Happened
- Horton buried a three off a pass from a driving Sparrow to open the game, and Horton returned the favor to Sparrow just after Cheyney got on the board.
- The Eagles quickly extended their lead into double digits with an 8-0 run featuring a bucket and two free throws by Dunn to go up 16-4 at the 16:01 mark.
- Cheyney fought back to within 28-26 with 8:47 left in the half but the Eagles closed the period on a 20-5 run with Nnadozie accounting for nine of them.
- The Wolves opened the second half on a 14-6 run to get back within 54-45 with 16:40 left before Sparrow buried a three and Dunn scored four quick points.
- Following a jumper by Cheyney, Dunn had three-straight dunks off passes from three different Eagles before Cheyney got back in the scoring column at the 10:21 mark.
- Horton answered the Wolves' three with one of his own and Coppin finished the final 4:21 on a 10-1 run, capped off by a transition layup by Leonard off a feed by Car'Ron Brown.
