Coco Figueroa has been named the MEAC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week, it was announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. This is the second time this season that Figueroa has received a weekly award from the conference.
A sophomore from Bayamon, Puerto Rico, Figueroa averaged 4.25 digs/set as the Eagles went 1-1 last week. Figueroa recorded 12 digs with two assists and an ace at UMBC before posting a career-high 22 digs to go with five assists in a four-set win over Morgan State.
Figueroa leads Coppin with 3.50 digs/set and 27 aces while ranking third on the team with 81 assists (1.01/set). She sits fourth overall in the MEAC in digs and tenth in aces and has upped her production to 4.44 digs/set in conference games which places her second in the MEAC.
The Eagles (10-13, 6-1) return to action on Friday, October 25 when they travel to Delaware State for a 6 pm start. Two days later, Coppin hosts Maryland Eastern Shore at 1 pm on ESPN+.
