BALTIMORE – After recording a school-record 23 wins and advancing to its first-ever postseason tournament last season, Coppin State's 2023 volleyball schedule features a pair of trips hosted by NCAA Tournament teams as head coach Tim Walsh announced the Eagles' schedule for the upcoming season on Monday.

Coppin opens the year in the Southeast at Auburn University's invitational on August 25-26 where the Eagles start with McNeese State, followed by the host Tigers on Friday night before taking on Jacksonville State on Saturday afternoon.

On the first day of classes, Monday, August 28, Coppin welcomes Hampton University for a 5 pm start featuring a pair of former MEAC rivals.

The Eagles will be on the road for the rest of the non-conference season, starting with a weekend trip to Marshall University (September 1-2) against the Thundering Herd, UNC Greensboro, and Morehead State, before a midweek trip against Loyola University Maryland on September 5.

After another weekend at Penn on September 8-9, Coppin closes the early portion of its schedule with a cross country flight for the Rebel Challenge on September 14-16, hosted by the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, who also made the NCAA Tournament a year ago. The three-day invite in the Sin City will also feature matches against Lamar University and University of Portland.

Conference play opens on Friday, September 22, when Coppin travels to Delaware State in a rematch of the 2022 MEAC Championship Match where the Hornets won in four sets.  The Eagles return home on September 24 to face Maryland Eastern Shore, who they defeated in the conference semifinals, before hosting American University in a late morning 'School Day' match on Wednesday, September 27.

CSU will play each MEAC member in a home-and-home during the season with Senior Night coming on Friday, November 10 against Morgan State.  The MEAC Tournament will once again be hosted by Delaware State, on November 17-19.

Returning for the Eagles are four starters and their libero, including All-American setter Andrea Tsvetanova, who led the Nation in aces last season, and three-time MEAC Defensive Player of the Year Ashley Roman.  First Team All-Conference selection Ammaarah Williams is also back for Coppin, with Paola Caten returning from injury after earning First Team All-MEAC honors in 2021.
