Marcos Herrand Named NEC Baseball Co-Pitcher of the Week for Win at CCSU

BRIDGEWATER, N.J. – For the second time this season, Coppin State's Marcos Herrand has been named the Northeast Conference Baseball Co-Pitcher of the Week, it was announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.  Herrand previously won the award on March 21, 2023.
 
A sophomore from Brandon, Fla., Herrand threw 8.0 innings while allowing just one run and striking out a career-high nine batters in the Eagles' victory at NEC-leading Central Connecticut State last Friday. Herrand retired eight-straight Blue Devils at one point during the win while striking out a pair in his last inning of work.
 
Herrand is currently 4-5 on the season while leading the Eagles in innings pitched (62.2) and strikeouts (52). His 5.89 earned run average is tops among CSU starting pitchers. Herrand currently ranks third in the league in innings pitched and fifth in strikeouts.
 
In NEC games, Herrand is 2-3 with 37 strikeouts in 42.1 innings while accumulating a 5.10 ERA.
 
Coppin State is scheduled to play at UMBC on Wednesday, April 26 at 6 pm before hosting Sacred Heart in a three-game NEC series which has been moved to April 27-29.
