BALTIMORE – Luka Markovic and
Vansh Kapoor combined for a doubles win and each won their singles matches, as did
Rishi Jalota, but the Coppin State men's tennis team was edged at Loyola Maryland, 4-3 on Thursday afternoon at McClure Tennis Center.
Markovic and Kapoor were slotted at No. 1 doubles and picked up a 7-5 victory over Loyola's Nick Lawliss and Nick Haggar. Jalota and
Anas Haddou dropped a 6-3 decision in the second slot, and the Greyhounds won by default at No. 3 to pick up the doubles point.
After dropping the first set, Markovic responded with a 6-0 victory in the set, followed by an 11-9 win in the third to earn the victory at No. 2. Kapoor (7-5, 6-4) and Jalota (6-4, 7-6) won in straight sets at Nos. 3 and 4, respectively.
Loyola won by retirement in the first slot and by default at No. 6 while
Ulugbek Abdurakhmonov took the loss in the fifth slot.
Coppin has added a home match against College of Charleston at 3 pm on Sunday, April 2 before hosting Harford CC on Tuesday, April 4.
