Ashley Roman Named MEAC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week

NORFOLK, Va. – Coppin State's Ashley Roman has been named the MEAC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week, it was announced by the league office on Monday evening. This is the fourth time this season that Roman has received the honor and the 18th time of her career.
 
A redshirt senior from Isabela, Puerto Rico, Roman averaged 4.80 digs per set for the Eagles last week, including a match-high 17 against Morgan State on Friday night. Roman also added seven assists and a pair of aces against the Bears on Senior night, two days after recording 12 against the same Bears team on the road.
 
Roman leads the MEAC with 422 total digs and 4.44 digs per set while adding 85 assists and 25 aces. She is the league's all-time leader with 2,366 career digs and has added 442 assists and 120 aces.
 
The Eagles (24-4, 13-1 MEAC) won their third Regular Season championship in the last four years and are the top seed at this weekend's MEAC Tournament where they will open with #8 South Carolina State at 11:30 am on Friday, November 17.
