Volleyball’s Andrea Tsvetanova Named SAAC Student-Athlete of the Month for October

BALTIMORE – Volleyball's Andrea Tsvetanova has been named the Coppin State SAAC Student-Athlete of the Month of October, Presented by the Maryland National Guard, following a recent vote from the organization's membership.
 
A redshirt senior from Sofia, Bulgaria, Tsvetanova led the Eagles to a perfect 8-0 record while earning a pair of MEAC Setter of the Week awards. In 27 sets, Tsvetanova averaged 10.48 assists, 2.41 digs and 0.96 aces per set while adding eight kills and five blocks and guiding the offense to a .252 hitting percentage.
 
Tsvetanova opened the month with a season-high 59 assists to go with 13 digs and three aces in a win at NC Central. The following weekend, she led Coppin to back-to-back sweeps of Norfolk State and Howard before notching another double-double with 48 assists and a season-high 17 assists and six aces against Delaware State.
 
She racked up another six aces two days later at Maryland Eastern Shore, had another double-double with 41 assists and ten digs against NC Central before closing out the month with 14 assists, six digs and five aces in just two sets against Le Moyne.
 
For the season, Tsvetanova leads the MEAC with 801 assists and 9.65 assists/set while leading the Nation once again with 0.64 aces per set. Tsvetanova has added 35 kills on .204 hitting while contributing defensively with 1.92 digs/set and 12 blocks.
 
Tsvetanova is ranked second all-time at Coppin with 2,829 assists while ranking first among all active NCAA Division I players with a school-record 218 aces and 0.690 aces/set in her career.
