Bowling Inks Elizabeth Stokley for 2022-23 Season

BALTIMORE – Coppin State head bowling coach Shaunita Middleton has announced that Elizabeth Stokley (Elizabeth City, N.C.) has signed a National Letter of Intent to compete for the Eagles during the 2022-23 season. Stokley is the second incoming freshman signed by Coppin State for the upcoming season, joining Xiani Carpenter who committed in December.

"It's always refreshing for a coach to recruit a student-athlete that's ready to get to work, both in the classroom and on the lanes," said Middleton. "My coaching staff and I knew what we wanted in bringing in the final pieces of the puzzle together to move this program to the next level, and Liz is one of them. We're looking for her to come in and make an immediate impact on the lanes."

Stokley was a multi-year Junior Gold qualifier who took second place in the High School Senior Division at the 2021 Carroll Ditteaux Memorial Scholarship Doubles Tournament.  She place 22nd at the 2022 Virginia State Pepsi USBC Youth Championship, improving from her 31st place performance in 2019. Stokley has a high game of 289 while averaging a 175 in the Challenge League.

In November, Stokley will be inducted into the Tidewater Virginia USBC Hall of Fame as a 'Star of the Future.'

"I chose Coppin State University because I knew once I stepped on campus that I would be stepping into a brighter future," said Stokley. "I believe Coppin was the best choice for me because it felt like a home away from home. Even when meeting the students and my future teammates, it felt like I had known them forever."

The Eagles finished the 2021-22 season with a 41-43 overall record and are slated to return its entire roster next season.
