VIRGINIA BEACH, VA- Coppin State's bowling team finished seventh out of nine teams at MEAC Meet #2 held at Pinboy's at the Beach. The Eagles went 2-7 over the tournament with wins over Howard and Norfolk State.
Logan Brown led the way for Coppin individually, finishing seventh overall with an average of 194.44 with a high game of 224 against University of Alabama-Birmingham. Over the weekend Brown recorded four games above 200.
Kaylah Castillo followed behind Brown with an average of 174.11 finishing 17
th in the field.
TaVera Johnson finished the weekend with an average of 171.89, which placed her at 23
rd overall.
Jalyne Myers and
Temira White finished 29
th and 30
th with overall averages of 176.13 and 167, respectively. In her two matches this weekend,
Alexia Alston, averaged 143.
Myers opened the weekend by shooting her first game above 200 this season by rolling a 244 against Maryland-Eastern Shore. White also opened Saturday shooting her highest game of the weekend of 211.
Brown recorded an impressive 9.02 first ball average and had a 47 percent strike percentage. Castillo led the team in single-pin spare conversion percentage with 89.7%, while Alston, Brown, Johnson, and White all converted at least 80% of their single pins.
Temira White led the team with a 10
th frame average of 22.00 followed by Alston and Castillo with 20.00 and 19.22, respectively. In the four matches on Sunday, White increased her score each game going from 159 in game one to 196 in game four.
In Saturday's matches, Coppin picked up a win over Norfolk State by a score of 869-826. In the second match of the day, the Lady Eagles dropped a close match to UAB 890-901.
The Eagles opened Sunday with an 846-816 victory over Howard before dropping the final two matches of the day to Delaware State and Monmouth.
