BALTIMORE – Coppin State's volleyball team won its seventh-straight match and 20
th of the season in a 3-0 (25-19, 25-19, 25-11) sweep over MEAC rival Maryland Eastern Shore on Friday night at PEC Arena. The Eagles remain atop the league standings while the Hawks fall to 7-16 overall and 5-7 in the MEAC.

Yaniris Miller-Green who played in their final home matches.
Inside the Numbers
- The Eagles hit .368 for the match with 39 kills on 87 swings, its second-best hitting percentage in any match this season. Coppin's 14 aces also matched a season high.
- The Coleman sisters, Miajavon Coleman and Ahzhi Coleman led all players with nine kills apiece, with the latter hitting an impressive .615 on 13 swings to go with three blocks.
- Miller-Green finished with eight kills on 14 swings to hit .500 while Ammaarah Williams and Geraldyn Palacios added six kills and five kills, respectively.
- Williams added four aces, three blocks and six digs while Palacios was credited with a team-high four blocks.
- Andrea Tsvetanova, the Nation's leader in aces, matched Williams with four aces to increase her season total to 85 on the year. She added 29 assists and five digs.
- Ashley Roman led all players with 15 digs while defensive specialists Gabi Theut (3) and Kennedy Beatty (2) combined for five aces. Beatty also added six digs.
How it Happened
- Coppin pulled away in the opening set with a 4-0 run midway through as Palacios and Williams recorded a kill and combined for a block to give the Eagles a 16-12 lead.
- UMES pulled to within 18-16 but the Eagles pulled away with a pair of three-point spurts before Ahzhi Coleman slammed home the winner.
- The second set was much like the first, with the Eagles getting some breathing room at the halfway point. With CSU clinging to a 15-14 lead, Williams and Miajavon Coleman tallied kills before Williams once again paired with Palacios for a kill.
- The Hawks twice pulled to within three points before Ahzhi Coleman once again won the set with a kill.
- After falling behind, 1-0, the Eagles never trailed the rest of the third set and went on a 9-1 run. Coppin finished the set on a 5-0 run featuring a pair of kills from Palacios, one from Hope Casel and an ace by Roman.
Up Next: Coppin will face a tough test on Sunday when it travels to Delaware State for a 3 pm start.
