NORFOLK, Va. – For the fourth-straight week, and fifth time this season, Coppin State's
Andrea Tsvetanova has been named the MEAC Volleyball Setter of the Week, it was announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. This is the ninth time that Tsvetanova has received the award in her career.
A senior from Sofia, Bulgaria, Tsvetanova averaged 9.43 assists, 3.00 digs and 0.86 aces per set while leading the Eagles offense to a .225 hitting percentage in a pair of matches last week.
Tsvetanova opened the week with a double-double 32 assists and ten digs to go with five aces in a sweep over Norfolk State. Later in the week, Tsvetanova put up 34 aces with 11 digs while adding another ace in a four-set loss at Howard.
For the season, Tsvetanova has recorded a Nation's leading 64 service aces while ranking second with 0.81 aces per set. Tsvetanova ranks second in the MEAC with 9.15 assists per set and her 723 total assists place her in the Nation's top ten. She also ranks among the Eagles' leaders in digs at 2.30 per set and leads the MEAC with eight double-doubles.
In just 48 career matches at Coppin, Tsvetanova ranks fourth in school-history with 1,553 assists and 115 aces. Her 115 aces (0.64 per set) leads all NCAA active players.
Coppin (13-8, 4-1 MEAC) returns to action on Friday, October 14 for a 6 pm start at Maryland Eastern Shore. Two days later, the Eagles host Delaware State at 3:00 pm.
