Coppin defeated archrival Morgan State at the Bears' Hill Field House, 67-65 over the weekend behind
Mossi Staples' career-high 21 points. Staples also recorded five assists and four steals and was named the MEAC Co-Player of the Week. It was the second time that Staples recorded the honor this season. The Eagles led for most of the game and took the lead for good as
Aliyah Lawson found
Colleen Bucknor underneath with 40 seconds to go for her career-high seventh assist of the game. Staples sealed the win with a steal and layup in the closing seconds of the game.
Jalynda Salley added 14 points while
Jaia Alexander was also in double figures with 12 points to go with eight rebounds and three steals.
Coppin Contributors

rd in MEAC) which includes a pair of double-doubles, four games with at least 20 points and a career-high 30 points against La Salle. All-MEAC honoree
Aliyah Lawson and
Mossi Staples are also averaging in double figures with Lawson putting up 11.9 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.7 assists with Staples just behind at 10.2 points while leading the team with 3.3 assists and 2.2 steals per game.

Climbing the Charts
Aliyah Lawson and
Jalynda Salley have been climbing Coppin's all-time leaders the last few seasons. Lawson now ranks fourth in CSU history with 118 3-pointers. She needs three more to tie Thelma Lyles for third place and ten to match Genesis Lucas. Salley has 93 blocks in her career to rank fifth all-time with Yvette Larkins (98) and Chance Graham (97) just ahead of her on the all-time list.
Scouting N.C. Central
Necole Hope is the lone player to average in double figures at 12.4 points but there are plenty of Eagles who can score the ball as seven players put up over five points per game. Diamond Thomas has recorded 9.9 points per game with a team-high 13 3-pointers with Ashlyn Lockard and Tianna Carter putting up an identical 8.8 points per game. Carter also leads the team with 7.3 rebounds. Coppin will also need to be aware of Nia Ford and Nyasia Palmer on both ends while Paris McBride and Kira Lowery average well over two assists per game.
