Kamillah Monroque Leads Three Eagles in Top Ten at The Shore XC Invitational

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – Coppin State's women's cross country team, led by Kamillah Monroque's sixth place performance, placed three Eagles in the top ten and finished second in the team standings at The Shore XC Invite on Saturday morning. Amadou Ba finished ninth overall in the men's race as the Eagles finished seventh in the team standings.
 
Monroque covered the 5K course in a season-best 20:46.80 to lead the Eagles and was followed up by Saidai Stuteley in 20:55.30 after she outkicked Delaware State's Tai Brown for seventh place. Latifa Ali also cracked the top ten by finishing tenth in 21:16.50.
 
Freshman Jahmei Wyatt placed 16th overall, and fourth on CSU, in a time of 21:46.40 while Claudia Constantine made her season debut in 21:48.10 to placing 17th.
 
Howard took the team title with 34 points, followed by the Eagles with 56 points and Hampton (76).
 
In his first-ever 8K race (5 mile), Ba finished ninth in 27:49.10. Amiri Goode (32:47.30), Randy Serville (33:16.30) and Ivan Wiggins (34:17.40) all averaged a sub-7-minute mile while Jervonne Agard finished in 37:09.50.
 
The Eagles return to action on Friday, October 15 for the DSU Farm Invitational in their final tuneup before the MEAC Championship.  The men's 8K race will start at 3 pm, followed by the women's 5K race at 4 pm.
