NORFOLK, Va. – Coppin State's bowling team was picked to tie for seventh in the MEAC Predicted Order of Finish, it was released by the league office on Thursday afternoon.
North Carolina A&T received 13 of 18 first place votes to finish first, followed closely by Delaware State and its four first-place votes. Maryland Eastern Shore edged Monmouth by one point for third place and were followed by UAB and Morgan State. Coppin tied Norfolk State for seventh and the poll was rounded out by Howard.
The Eagles, who open the season on October 16-17 at the Mount St. Mary's Shootout, are coming off a season where they won three matches against nationally ranked opponents and were named a NTCA All-Academic Team. Coppin earned votes in the NTCA Poll for the first time since the 2007-08 season and picked up votes in the Final Poll.
Kaylah Castillo, who owns a school-record 175.57 average in traditional matches, returns for Coppin, as does sophomore
Logan Brown. Brown was one of the top freshmen in the MEAC last season, leading the Eagles with a 181.85 average.
