SMYRNA, Del. – Coppin State's
Kamillah Monroque and
Amadou Ba finished third in their respective races to lead the Coppin State cross country teams at the DSU Invitational on Saturday morning at Delaware State Outreach & Research Center. The women's squad took second of four teams while the men finished third of four squads.
Monroque was the first of three-straight Eagles to finish, covering the 5,400m course in 22:58.8, just ahead of teammates
Saidai Stuteley and
Jahmei Wyatt who finished fourth and fifth in times of 23:05.8 and 23:26.7, respectively. Monroque finished just 35 seconds behind the leader and missed second place by two seconds.
Also competing for the women were
Shenelle Tomlinson (30:50.1) and
Destinee Mcleod (31:53.0).
Ba clocked a 18:29.3, finishing just 16 seconds behind the winner, with
Amiri Goode coming in second for the Eagles in 21:22.2 which was good enough for 15
th overall.
Rounding out the scorers for Coppin were
Ivan Wiggins (22:11.5),
Abayie Opuni (22:23.0) and
Randy Serville (22:25.2) while
Jervonne Agard finished in 29:38.5.
The Eagles return to action on Saturday, September 25 for the Shore XC Invitational in Princess Anne, Md.
