NEWARK, Del. – Coppin State's softball team dropped a single game at University of Delaware, 15-1, on Wednesday afternoon at Delaware Diamond. The Blue Hens remain unbeaten at 3-0 while the Eagles now stand at 0-5.
Brissa Alvarado scored for the Eagles in the opening inning, putting Coppin on top, 1-0. Alvarado started the game with a leadoff double to left center before advancing to third on a groundout and scoring on a passed ball.
Delaware tied it up with a run in the bottom half of the inning before tacking on ten runs on nine hits and an error in the second. The Blue Hens added two more runs in both the third and fourth innings.
Sydney Dombrowski started off the second inning with a single, but Coppin only managed a pair of hits in the game.
Kayleigh Reome tossed 2.2 innings was responsible for six earned runs in the circle while
Vanessa Carrizosa allowed nine runs in 1.1 innings.
The Eagles are set to host Drexel in a 1 pm doubleheader on Saturday, March 13. Coppin will then travel to Drexel for a 12 pm doubleheader on Sunday, March 14.
