Bowling Picks Up Pair of Victories at Northeast Invitational

STRATFORD, N.J. – Coppin State's bowling team picked up a pair of baker match victories as it finished seventh of eight schools at the Northeast Invitational on Friday afternoon at 30 Strikes.
 
The Eagles opened the day with the toughest draw of any team, facing 13th-ranked North Carolina A&T and 7th-ranked Mount St. Mary's.  After falling to the Aggies, Coppin picked up a win in the opening game against the Mountaineers, but The Mount bounced back to take the match.
 
CSU opened it match with Chestnut Hill with impressive games of 213 and 210 to take a large lead which the Griffins were unable to overcome.  The Eagles held on to take the match, 947-914. In its match against their archrival Morgan State, Coppin got stronger as the games went on, closing it out with 184 and 162 to win, 825-786.
 
Against 17th-ranked Duquesne to close out the day, Coppin took the final game, 178-172, but was unable to overcome the lead that the Dukes had built in the opening four games.

Coppin returns to the lanes for the James Brown Invitational, hosted by Morgan State on February 12-14 at AMF Country Club Lanes in Baltimore.
