Lawson Earns MEAC Weekly Awards

NOFROLK, Va. – For the fourth week in a row, the Coppin State women's basketball team saw a player earn weekly MEAC honors. Announced by the league office Tuesday morning, for a second consecutive week, Aliyah Lawson was named MEAC Co-Player of the week and shares this honor with Camille Downs from Norfolk State.

A junior from Whitby, Ontario, Canada, Lawson made a career-high seven 3-pointers to lead all scorers with 21 points in a 68-43 home win over Winthrop, while also grabbing four steals on the defensive end and accounting for three rebounds. Lawson has scored in double figures in six straight games, with two 20-point efforts in that span.

Coppin is back in action Tuesday, December 28 at George Mason, and December 29 at Richmond to close out the non-conference season.
