BALTIMORE- Coppin State volleyball's
Ashley Roman led the way for the Eagles in a 3-0 sweep (25-9, 25-17, 25-16) over South Carolina State on Friday night inside the PEC Arena. The Eagles improved to 11-9 (5-3 MEAC) while the Bulldogs fall to 0-17 (0-8 MEAC).

A junior from Isabela, P.R., Roman recorded a match-high 21 digs and five assists. On the offensive side,
Miajavon Coleman had 12 kills, three aces, seven digs and one block while hitting .385 whereas
Paola Caten finished with nine kills and six digs.
Chudear Tut had nine kills and three blocks on a .533 hitting percentage and fellow middle
Ahzhi Coleman hit .625 on six kills.

Andrea Tsvetanova recorded 22 assists and seven digs while splitting time at setter with
Kareemah Hopkins who added 11 assists.

Coppin outhit South Carolina State, .352 to .000.

CSU played all of its active players and got contributions throughout the lineup.Â
Rebekka Hauri got the start at defensive specialist and tallied six digs.
Hope Casel also added three kills.

The Eagles opened the first set on a 10-1 scoring run before South Carolina State scored two unanswered. The Eagles scored four-straight points and a final kill by
Miajavon Coleman helped the Eagles take the set 25-9.

Set two was evenly matched until an attack error by South Carolina State opened up a scoring run for the Eagles. A kill by
Chudear Tut gave the Eagles a 15-11 advantage.
Miajavon Coleman once again had the final kill to give the Eagles the victory and take the match, 2-0.

The Bulldogs had a 3-2 advantage in the final set before a kill by
Kareemah Hopkins tied it up. The Eagles then went on a 6-2 scoring run to go ahead in the match and never looked back. Coppin finished the set on a 4-2 run to take the set 25-17 and the match.

The Eagles are back in action on Sunday, October 24 hosting North Carolina Central for senior day. The match is slated for 1 p.m.
