Bowling Picks Up Four Wins in First Day of Season Opening Mount St. Mary’s Shootout

FREDERICK, Md. – Coppin State's bowling team opened its season by going 4-1 in traditional matches on the first day of the Mount St. Mary's Shootout held at Terrace Lanes. The Eagles stand in third place out of eight teams, recording 4,256 total pins with an average game of 170.2.
 
To open the Tournament, Coppin put together a convincing 900-735 victory over Pitt.-Greensburg prior to edging Felician, 814-798.  The Eagles faced a stiff test with their third match in Chestnut Hill, who received votes in the NTCA Preseason Poll, but came out with an 843-777 win. 
 
Coppin next took on MEAC rival Howard and defeated the Bison by a 791-773 margin.  The Eagles wrapped up the day with their best overall game with a 908, but the host and 13th-ranked Mountaineers took the contest with a 994 total.
 
The Eagles wrap up the Tournament with Baker play on Sunday, October 17 where they will face off with Kutztown, LaRoche, Pitt.-Greensburg and Felician before the position round.
