ATLANTA, Ga. – After two days, Coppin State's bowling team sits in fifth place out of 16 teams at the TNBA – HBCU Invitational. The Eagles went 4-6 over the first two days, totaling 4,314 in five Baker matches on Friday and 4,560 pins in five traditional matches on Saturday to average 177.5 pins per match.
Sitting just ahead of Coppin are Florida A&M, Alabama State, host Jackson State and Southern University. CSU ranks ahead of Texas Southern, Norfolk State, Fayetteville State, Morgan State and Alabama A&M among others.
Kaylah Castillo ranks fourth out of 93 bowlers with an average of 198.60 in five matches. Castillo rolled at least a 190 in all matches with a 205 and 203 in her second and third games.
Nia Turner finished 20
th overall with a five-match average of 184.20, including games of 204 in the second game, and a 200 to close out her day.
In four matches,
Aushia McLean recorded a 192.00 average to finish 48th, finishing with a 204 in her final match.
Just behind McLean in 53
rd place with a 186.25 average was
Mya Hamlett who bowled a 201 in the second match on Saturday.
Raja Anderson competed in three games to record a 166.00 average. Her high game was a 184 in the second match on Saturday.
Freshman
Sydney Tyler closed out Saturday with a 204 and averaged a 171.00 in her two matches.
Finally,
Jazzleen McRae accumulated a 146.50 average in her two matches.
Sunday's bracket play pits Coppin versus Texas Southern in the opening match before taking on either Norfolk State or Fayetteville State.
