Men’s Hoops Misses Opportunities in Loss at Florida A&M

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Coppin State's men's basketball team made just 7-of-23 (30.4%) free throws and failed to capitalize on 17 Florida A&M turnovers in a 65-54 loss on Monday night at the Al Lawson Center.
 
Inside the Numbers

• Koby Thomas and Andrew Robinson led Coppin State with 12 points apiece while Dejuan Clayton added 11 points. Thomas and Robinson's six rebounds were second on the team to Brendan Medley-Bacon's seven.
• Clayton and Medley-Bacon also had three assists each.
• Thomas made just 3-of-10 free throws while Clayton was 2-of-6 from the stripe. Medley-Bacon and Reggie James combined to go another 2-of-7 from the line.
• Aaron Robinson chipped in with eight points while Ibn Williams added six with a pair of threes.
• Florida A&M outshop Coppin, 46.3% to 35.2% and held a 47-30 advantage on the glass.
• MJ Randolph led all players with 20 points to go with 15 rebounds.

How it Happened

• The teams played virtually even through the first five minutes, but after a free throw by Brendan Medley-Bacon cut Florida A&M's lead to 6-5 with 14:38 to go, the Rattlers went on a 13-3 run over the next 6:19 to go up, 19-8.
• Aaron Robinson stopped a 4:32 scoreless drought with a layup at the 6:24 mark but the Eagles failed to make another field goal until a layup by Koby Thomas with 39 ticks remaining in the period.
• The Rattlers took a 27-13 advantage to the half and led by as many as 38-21 with 15:05 remaining in regulation.
• Coppin pulled to as close as 56-48 after back-to-back threes by Dejuan Clayton and Aaron Robinson at the 6:23 and 5:30 marks, respectively, and again with 2:07 to go on a triple by Reggie James.
