BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Coppin State's baseball team dropped a midweek matchup at Lehigh, 12-3, on Wednesday afternoon at Walker Field.

Inside the Numbers
- Marcos Castillo, Drew Thomas and Nick Martinez had a pair of hits apiece to lead the Eagles offensively with Martinez tallying the team's only RBI. Thomas also drew a walk while Derek Lohr had a base hit and a free pass.
- Carter Harbut threw four scoreless innings before giving up six earned runs in the fifth and finished with three strikeouts.
- Anthony Martinez was charged with just one earned run in 1.2 innings before being replaced by Ryan McWilliams who allowed two unearned runs before being removed.
- Lucas Richards gave up just two hits in the final 1.1 innings.
How It Happened
- Scoreless through the first three innings, Coppin took a 3-0 lead with three runs in the fourth. A pair of passed balls allowed Nazier McIlwain and Marcos Castillo to score before Nick Martinez drove a fly ball to right field for an out. Derek Lohr scored on the sacrifice fly.
- Carter Harbut got a 1-2-3 inning for the Eagles in the bottom half, but after CSU went down in order in the fifth, Lehigh finally got on the board in a big way with six runs which included a grand slam.
- Anthony Martinez escaped trouble in the sixth to keep it a three-run game but Lehigh put another six spot on the board in the seventh as Coppin used three pitchers in the frame.
- Coppin threatened in the eighth with back-to-back singles by Drew Thomas and Justin Banks, but a double play ball and a groundout got the hosts out of the inning.
- CSU got singles by Lohr and Martinez in the ninth and Brandon Watkins drew a walk to load the bases with two buts, but were left stranded.
Up Next: Coppin State host Maryland Eastern Shore for a three-game MEAC series on April 26-28. Friday's start is slated for 3 pm, followed by Alumni Day on Saturday at 2 pm, and Senior Day Sunday at 1 o'clock.
